FAQ's |
| Q: I sent you an e-mail and signed up for the
Yahoo Group. What now?
A: Come hiking. This is supposed to be a low-key/low-maintenance group. Just keep an eye on the website and Yahoo group every once in a while and see when the next hike is. No forms to fill out, no hoops to jump through, etc. |
| Q: How many people are in the group:
A: As of April, 2005, we have over 300 people on the mailing list. |
| Q: What about advertising the group in outdoor store bulletin
boards and other places?
A: Again, low key/low maintenance. Feel free to forward the link to all your friends, but we are going to stay electronic. |
| Q: How strenuous are the hikes? A: We do a wide range of hikes - from a couple hours at Blue Hills to full day in the Presidentials. There really is something for everyone. |
| Q: I have never been hiking before. What should
I bring?
A: Click here for a list of gear and clothes. But remember, hiking gear varies greatly by season. The biggest things to remember are food, water, and waterproof clothing. |
| Q: Does your group cost anything?
A: No. We are a pure volunteer group. But remember, hiking is potentially dangerous. Don't try to tackle anything you aren't ready for. You are responsible for your own safety - we are not professionals and are not running a guide service. |
| Q: I have a great idea for a hike - can we do it?
A: Sure, but you have to plan it! The point of this group is to enable people to connect with others. Kevin will not be planning or leading all of the hikes, in fact - most hikes come about because someone else plans it. |
